Manan is an apricot-skinned, red-headed Raen with ivory scales, a thick tail, finned horns and bright green eyes. Her appearance is pretty well-kept, and she has adorned Eorzean fashion for the time she has been in Eorzea. She generally wears clothes that match well with her hair and appearance - mostly tones of red and sometimes green. Otherwise, you will likely see her in armor light or full-plate depending on her mood of the day. The color of her aether is green tinged with streaks of red.Due to the Echo, she will always seem fluent in whatever language is considered the norm for the region. However some phrases may not be entirely correct or some words may be unrecognizable because they are used in a context that does not entirely make sense. Consider it a translation error. The Echo also leads her to hearing a voice in her head - this is the voice for what she presumes to be Mother Nhaama, and due to her astounding faith there is a lot of strange things that she will do simply because she is asked to do so. She may also speak to herself on occasion, because she will respond to Nhaama aloud. She also has a bit of a superiority complex, due to being convinced she is an avatar/prophet of Nhaama. She also has a deeply seated rage that digs deeper into her essence as a Dark Knight. She is capable of multiple forms of martial arts, but prefers to use a two-handed sword and her fists.

HIstory

Manan is a Raen of very mysterious origins. She was found on a boat floating in the Ruby Sea, covered in blood. Discovered by a wandering Ejinn tribesman, Manan was named and adopted into the tribe and raised to be a part of the Keplar pod – a family of Ejinn mostly located on the precipice between the river and ocean known for their warriors who ambush hostile tribes straying to close to the river earning the tribe a relatively terrifying reputation.Manan was raised to become a warrior due to the pod’s nature and her own inherent violent tendencies. During her time in becoming a warrior at a young age she was known as the Ruby Dragon and she began to develop a literal darkness which would control her and give her extreme strength during combat – different from the Will of Karash due to it being a very literal darkness. On a hunt with another member of the Ejinn tribe, the darkness overtook her and led to Manan attacking and killing her podmate. With the murder of one of her podmates, Manan left the Ejinn tribe and was exiled – for a long time wandering the Steppe on her own trying to survive the wildlife. She managed for quite a long time before she was found by a member of the Malaguld tribe, Rhen Malaguld, who sensed and followed her due to the growing darkness that was enveloping her. After Manan was bested in a battle by Rhen, the Xaela took her in and raised her as a daughter of his own and worked effortlessly with her to teach her how to further her strengths as a warrior and how to control her darkness. When the Seventh Umbral Calamity had it's drastic effects on Eorzea, she awoke with a vivid vision of a meteor shower over the dark skies of the Steppes. Since that day on, the wind howled with Mother Nhaama's words within her head. These words and sounds she had admitted and talked to Rhen about, led to a realization within the man. Rhen discussed Manan’s vision with the khagan and other elders of the Malaguld tribe and they all had realized the religious implications of what the Raen girl was to be with the vision, the voice, and the darkness growing within her - she was to be Nhaama’s Chosen warrior. She then spent the rest of her years, training ruthlessly to be an expert combatant and warrior worthy of Nhaama’s name by Rhen, one of the strongest elders of the tribe. She was put to the test of trials and tribulations set on by Nhaama herself and with the Echo, darkness, and aether that stirred within her, she found herself rising above just as expected by her peers and her tribe. Just as they expected an acclaimed prophet and even avatar of Nhaama herself - she grew up to have quite a superiority complex. She truly believed in her role as Nhaama’s avatar, and so every command and every word Nhaama spoke to her, she listened and she followed. It was a few years after this development when Nhaama bid Manan to head on a pilgrimage to the West, and so she listened and traveled westwards - being loyal and serving to the voices that echoed within her head - be it the words of the darkness within her or the Nhaama within her head.As of recent events, she has not heard Nhaama's voice in quite some time - the last command given was to "protect those who represent hope and goodness". She has also found out the source of her darkness is actually sourced from a voidsent which is entwined with her body and her very aether. Once at odds with this voidsent, she attempted to rid of it - only to find that it is so deeply ingrained with her aetherial essence that it's removal would have killed her, and in turn, the voidsent as well. After deliberation, the voidsent offered to make a pact, that if a grand battle was presented, the winner would take over most control of the body. Manan accepted the pact - and with the advice and assistance of fellow void-hunting friends, she defeated the voidsent on his own terms, and now co-exists with the voidsent named Asura. After this, Manan decided that until she could control her new powers and learn to properly coexist, she was a danger to society - and so she left and disappeared to train and focus on how to coexist with her new found mental roommate without causing harm to herself or others (for the most part). Now that she has learned ways to do so, she returns to society seeking to test how well she has done, and return to being Nhaama's ever loyal servant.

HOOKS

  • Manan has the Echo. This echo that she has, she believes to be a blessing and the voice who speaks to her is the voice of Nhaama herself. Her Echo allows her to pass the boundaries of languages, but does not necessarily allow her to pass the boundaries of culture. She also can see glimpses into people's past, if Nhaama deems it appropriate. If you want to use this as a hook, send me a message so I know what to write in response. You are also welcome to use this one!

  • Manan is a Malaguld. Members of the Malaguld tribe are welcome to approach her, and even recognize her. However be aware that Manan has not been home in years - her pilgrimage has led her away for almost a decade.

  • Manan is an exiled Ejinn. Members of the tribe may recognize her, and welcome to approach her. She was exiled due to murder, and is known to be of the Kelpar pod and used to be titled the 'Ruby Dragon' at a young age due to her prowess as a warrior.

  • Manan is an adventurer, and so she has been to many places and has had a variety of well-known feats. Other adventurers may know of her, or other travelers may recognize her. Potentially you may even want to hire her - she is strong and it is clear in the way she moves.

  • Manan is a Dark Knight. She has been set on this path ever since she was young - the blessing of Nhaama set her on this path, to walk the path of darkness is to align with Nhaama's affinity for the night. She doesn't know many other Dark Knights, but she is interested in them. They may even recognize her. Her darkness is smothering and immense. The darkness within has recently been attributed to the resident voidsent in her body, and fluctuates depending on the intensity and lack of control she has over certain emotions.

  • Manan has a voidsent in her body. It is noticeable to people who can see aether - more specifically it appears as if the voidsent's aether and her aether are deeply entertwined and tangled - representative of a bond that has gone on for decades. She has learned to co-exist with it, and it is now part of her. Sometimes it may pipe up during conversation, it's name is Asura and there is art of the voidsent in the GALLERY.

  • Manan has a natural disposition to try and help, and is one of the reasons why she was blessed with the Echo in the first place. She does not claim to be heroic, but helping comes as instinctual. When she sees someone who is in need, or needs help - she will step up to the plate. But note that she tries, and it does not mean she always succeed in doing things in a heroic manner...

  • Nhaama requests weird things, and so she will approach others or be in places where it will not always make sense for her to be there. The reason why she is there is because Mother Nhaama has asked her to, but she is not always given a reason or an explanation. Manan, being ever so faithful, does not question. This can also be a useful plot hook or point for many scenarios.

Connections

  • Romantic Partners. Manan currently is not settled in any relationship and I am open to romance RP.

  • Companions. Adventuring friends, Dark Knight companions, companions met in a local tavern/bar are all fine. We can come up with something.

  • Associates. Generally specific to business. Manan is a mercenary and has both dealt in the criminal underground as well as law enforcement. She has also been in the middle ground with assistance in merchantile jobs.

  • Rivals. She is very martially inclined so she may gain sparring partners/rivals to best her in combat. Characters who are attuned to the Dusk Mother may feel bothered by her ability to hear Nhaama's voice via the Echo. There are those who may want to compete with her due to her religious status as Nhaama's Chosen.

  • Enemies. Lots of Xaela tribes are likely to be offended by Manan and her ability to hear the Dusk Mother and may be out for her head. She has not been kind to the Garlean Empire and during her time there she has committed severe crimes from simple theft to murder.

  • Sparring Partners. Manan likes to fight, and it's one of her favorite pastimes that come from the Steppe and overall having such a violent history. Fighting is welcome.

OOC

  • HOMOPHOBES AND TRANSPHOBES DO NOT INTERACT, THANKS.

  • Regarding sexual themes, I am over the age of 21 but my main interest is not in ERP. I am not really here to ERP - but I don't mind the concept of it if there is roleplay value in it. If our characters are well-acquainted then I would not mind it, but would much prefer a fade-to-black than anything else.

  • Regarding god-modders & meta-gamers, when you write an action towards my character in any situation (more lenient if it’s not a drastic action that won’t hurt my character) or if you happen to have your character know a piece of information that your character WOULDN’T have known without asking me first or heard from Manan or other reasonable parties, I will have no qualms about stopping any RP interaction right then and there without warning. People who do these things are not fun to RP with, and I have no interest in subjecting myself to such things.

  • Open to pre-established connections. Just send me a message! We can talk and plot, that’s okay! I actually love these.

  • IC Relationships. While I absolutely do endorse friendships and romantic interests - I also heavily endorse rivals and enemies! Character interactions are important, even the troublesome ones - and helps to character building. To be honest, interactions between people who could easily be enemies or hate eachother are interactions that are rather interesting and are a kind of challenge that I appreciate. It forces me to think outside of the box in relation to my character and what I’m used to, and it’s important to me as a writer and important to the development of Manan. Under the hooks page, you can see a list of connections and ideas for them.

  • Other Au Ra. I love lizards. Please throw your lizard at me. Please.

  • Combat RP. I support and enjoy this form of RP. I am comfortable with doing free form combat or via /dice in party chat. Manan also under certain situations may resort to psychical violence as a relative reaction, so please be aware that this may be an outcome if she is prompted.

  • The Echo. Just to make sure I clarify with this - the Echo that Manan has enables her to "hear" the voice of Nhaama, the Dusk Mother. There is NO clarification of what the voice actually is, but from her frame of reference coming from the Steppes, the Dusk Mother is the goddess that she is familiar with. She is not to be confused with the FFXIV Warrior of Light. She has attunement with the Dusk Mother as a conceptual primal in the same way as Ysayle with Shiva and envisions herself to be Nhaama's champion. She is absolutely convinced that the voice is 100% Nhaama and could not be anything else. The voices in her head might also be coupled with the "darkness", which is inherently psychosis. Regardless, they have properties to allow them to be aware of situations they otherwise would not have - and this is attributed to these Echo abilities.
